| Overrated, Medicore & Bland Tasting food
Like what is mentioned in the title.
IMHO, it's really over rated.
I know of some better Japanese Restaurants @ better prices just further down the road (Near Cashurina Road)
If you are super health conscious, this may be the place for you as almost everything is bland.
Beside that... here's what else I did not like.
The Chawamushi normally comes first... but this place serves it last... am not sure if they forgot my order or what... but this is honestly a first for me.
*Anyway, my sis found a piece of orange skin in there... never seen that done before. Also, the dish tasted like regular steamed egg... @ $6, well... $4.5 after discount.
The Udon we ordered was the one with the Fish cake & Sea Weed and spring onion... I my son did not like greens, I asked them to remove the spring onion but guess what? the Udon came with the Spring Onion... Small thing you may say?? But the 2 slices of fish cake and sea weed were not there too... Also, the noodles tasted like they were over cooked and frozen...
Look @ the sushi... look @ the raw stuff... does that portion look normal? The portion is too..... stingy.
If you did not notice, the Tempura was under cooked.
The Suki Yaki was pathetic.
- The meat was tough
- Too lean, little or no fat
- The dish was supposed to be pipping hot... but this was relatively warm only... (Coldest Suki Yaki I have ever had)
- I am not sure about this... but I actually found some Kang Kong in the pot... please can someone tell me is this is normal??
Price... some were relatively cheap... but some were over priced...
Service was... 1 word, Unsatisfactory.
*I am not too choosy with service... (See my other reviews) but the service of this place was relatively disappointing. |

| very mediocre...
This is really a very mediocre restaurant - not any better or cheaper than any of those chain japanese restaurants in the shopping malls. I am surprised that it is so highly rated. If you go there with any expectation, you will be disappointed. |

| We love this restaurant - Unassuming and Cosy
Tomoe is one of our family's fave restaurant. In fact, it must be to some other families as well cos we always see the same faces when we pop by for lunch on Sundays. :)
The foods great, nothing too fancy or needs to be explained. Can tell they are prepared with care as little plates of appetisers and fruits and salads are always tasty and yummy. My kids love the cha soba. I love the chicken hotplate set - the sauce is great!
The service is also nice and comfortable. The waitresses on their own accord, prepare the unbreakables and forks and spoons for my kiddos. They are smiling and never impatient.
Food is served quickly and the price is not pricey too. :) |

| Loyal fan
The first time I had this was when it was located at the old Orchard point. Yes. That is how long I've followed them.
I like the simplicity of the food & how fuss free everything is (Minus all the buzz about decoration / staff who are inpersonal). These people are straightforward about everything. No secrets. I like that.
I always find myself ordering the salmon-don. Comes with tempura. Very filling. What more can anyone seriously ask for? |

| small homely restaurant
i was attracted to this restaurant because of the name...one of my favouritest books is called "toto-chan", its a true story...toto-chan is a little girl who went to this wonderful school called tomoe, its my dream school, its the kinda school i wanna set up too, its definitely the kinda school i'd love to send my kids to...haha, anyway, go read it, u love it!
oh, sori, sidetracked...coming back to the restaurant, yes...it is very obscure n it can almost go unnoticed except to a keen eye ha :P
its a tiny restaurant, which seems so homely, reminds me of those family restaurants in japan, so cosy...the menu has got quite a wide selection of sashimi and set meals...
the sashimi is pretty fresh, but its not fantastic (ichiban great world has still the best sashimi), salmon sashimi is nice, tuna sashimi is so-so...
the price is quite on the high-end...one plate of sashimi (abt 6-8 thick pieces) costs abt $30+
service is pretty good and efficient, staff is friendly & helpful |
