I think I really don't know how to appreciate ribs.

Bread was given to us as a starter. It was complimentary. The bread was soft and warm. Good to warm a hungry and cold stomach. The garlic butter spread was nothing fantastic.

We ordered the combo set which consists of half a slab of ribs, fried fish fillet and two sides of which we chose coleslaw and french fries. In addition, we ordered an onion loaf. Although the food might seem insufficient for two, we were dead full at the end of dinner.

First about the sides. We were really disappointed with the coleslaw. The vegetables were soaked in mayonnaise sauce and was totally tasteless. Dear commented that the coleslaw was worse than the ones that he had at kopitiam. I totally agree with him. Coleslaw is something which we both enjoy and hence it was really disappointing. We were trying to make ourselves finish the disgusting vegetables. French fries were normal. Cant go very wrong.

I think I really cant understand the attraction of ribs. There is no meat at all! Why do people actually like them? Dont understand. I like my meat with flesh and not just bones. lol. Anyway, although I seldom eat ribs, I think the ones here are relatively decent. It is well marinated and the hence the meat and BONES tasted sweet. It was tough as how ribs are suppose to be. Hence, it was quite difficult to separate the pathetic amount of meat from the bones.

The fried fish fillet was in my opinion over fried. The meat was abit tough and there was no juicy.

The onion loaf is really just onion rings. However, instead of small pathetic onion rings (like those you get from burger king), you get big, chunky and fat onions over here. We had a tough time finishing the onion loaf. It tasted good at the start as it went well with the mayonnaise provided. However, towards the end, we were really struggling. Too much onion! Jerlat!

On the whole, I would feel that tony roma is very similar to the outback restaurant. Between the two, I prefer the later. There is more variety.

Nice ribs that's all...

Ain't not too impressed with Tony Roma's... I gotta say it's pretty much standard fare with nothing too outstanding...going straight to the food.. we had the onion thingy appertizer.. wasn't very crispy nor crunchy.. was a bit moist n flat.. dun bother ordering.. had better ones elsewhere... the baked potato soup was a joke.. tasted totally straight from a can..wat's e point?

we had e ribs n that's e oni saving grace... very tasty marinate n although it ain't exactly "meat juz fall off" kind of tender.. it's still a yummy dish.. e mashed potato n e corn were not too bad...lovely ribs in all.. e steak n chicken combo was a hit n miss.. e steak was a miss...too tough n e steak orginal taste was not good hence muz b lousy steak.. e chicken was a hit with great marinade as well (tasted like e ribs one).. to end on a sweet note we had this chocolate dessert which is not too bad but forgettable...

service was average although if u seated in e corner u would need to raise ur hands (like in school) n wait patiently for a wait staff to approach u (end up all e other tables in our section do tat to get attention).. tony roma's would fare better in service if they divide their tables into sections with allocated staff as to improve service rather than to have wandering wait staff patrolling the long restaurant and having customers trying to catch their attention...

(6.2 - e rest sux but juz for e ribs)

Must Tries: erm juz the ribs?

Tony Roma's

i don't know how many of you don't like ribs, but i sure as hell do. ribs are one of the most sinfully delicious foods in this world, and tony roma's definitely has this part covered.

i went there some time back and found the food to live up to expectations. for first timer's i'd recommened the baby back ribs that they're famous for. soft, juicy and sweet, these ribs fall right off the bone and melt in yoru mouth. you'd be silly to only get a half slab. even my tiny gf can finish one full slab. its really good. the prawns and steak are ok. nothing to rave about.

i'd recommend getting your ribs with a nice slab of mashed potatos. their one of the better mash potatos that i've tasted. it comes with two sides, so you can pick coleslaw, corn etc etc for the other one.

if you're interested, you can check out the full review at my site: http://tastingheaven.blogspot.com/ and please leave a comment

Nice and Juicy

Im an optimist and finishing work and getting some juicy ribs is always good. I was thinking of making the trip to Dempsy Rd but it was an easy stride Tony Roma...

Ribs, ribs and more ribs... that's all I ate.
How about the corn on the cob, they must add sugar to it.. too sweet and I love a sweet bite...

Superb Dessert

I went on a Fri afternoon, and it was pretty deserted. The ambience was nice with a view of a small pond.
My friend and I ordered a half-slab of baby backs. It was good, tender and soft. We chose the baked potato and coleslaw as side dishes. I didnt like the coleslaw as it had the the taste and smell of celery.

And finally, the dessert! I finally got a chance to try the apple crisp after watching Michelle Chia and Shuan Chen introducing it on "Sweets for my Sweet". The portion was just nice for 2 to share. Although it was not served on a hotplate, the apples were still warm. The slightly tart apples cubes complement the vanilla ice cream and the crunchy granola pieces very well. A must-try!
