This cosy 45-seat restaurant sits cheek by jowl with a slew of Middle Eastern eateries and shisha joints. Usman’s Place specialises in Pakistani cuisine and also does some lip-smacking biryani (mutton or chicken $9.90; seafood $10.90).
This place is pretty much one of the hidden treasures around. The place is great for Biryani. Both Chicken and lamb birayni's are worth going to the place for. Also good are the puri and and halwa. the only dissapointment surprisingly is the naans and tandoori roti which tends to be too rugged and without much texture. But go for biryanis.
Even though the food can be a hit or a miss, since this is one of the only options in town for Pakistani food, I tend to frequent it regularly. The turnaround time used to be annoyingly long but they are improving on it. Alas, they have started serving food that has been prepared earlier and theirfore loses its freshness. The Halwa Poori breakfast is always good though...and Qeema Paratha is not bad either. Nihari is good. Biryani is terrible. The tikkas and kebabs can be great or soggy and cold depending on the day.
Usman restaurant has some authentic Pakistani food and dishes like Nehari,Haleem, palak kofta, pilao, chicken chargha, which set it apart from other North Indian restaurants since the above-mentioned dishes are truly Pakistani.
For pakistanis who miss there favourite breakfast "poori halwa", now you can have it at usman's place at bussorah street.
and monady to friday lunch buffet at Usman is only at 9.90, and its worh eating.
