  1. Not been original.....

    Feb 28, 2009
I past by tanjong katong road last friday and i saw this cafe by the road side so me and my wife decided to check-out the cafe...but went we stood at the door almost abt 5min non of the staff notice us at all so we decide to go in and get our own table. We notice in the cafe have only 8 customer plus 3 service staff and yet they cant noticed us at all :( ,finally they noticed us abt 2 to 3min and give us the menu and walk away without saying anything. Went we look through the menu again and again we notice something i keep telling my wife this menu very familar have the same food as MISS CLARITY CAFE the only thing is that they change the name of it. We been sitting on the table abt 15min the staff dont bother at us at all, then we realise that they have V.I.P customer on the other table, but still that dosent meant the staff can ingore us...my wife started to get fed up..so we left the stupid cafe without eating....... ( Not been ORIGINAL, NO SERVICE CHARGE DOES NOT MEAN NO SERVICE,)

I also spent ages looking at the menu and saying the same thing. This is Miss Clarity's menu! I wonder if they are sister companies... I still prefer the service at Miss Clarity though.
    • With a Pinch of Salt- Cafe style family restaurant

      Dec 27, 2008
Walk into a little cosy family cafe, be greeted by their friendly staff in their colourful pink aprons. The atmosphere in the cafe brings you back to your childhood days with many cute pictures of Kyra and her friends. Krya is the little famous chef who created this cafe, you can read about her family story in their menu and even on the wall. Their menu is a little book of deliciously named food like Mr Teryaki Lamb-San, Mrs Dory Pan-Seared Sissy Crab Pasta and many many more. These are some of their signature dishes that me and my friends tried. The portions are huge and their prices are so reasonable. Once you're done with your main course you have to try their tempting Choco-Lava dessert, it's melted Chocolate with a single scoop of ice-cream. The hot steamy version of a chocolate brownie...Yummy & Delicious ! So make your way down to With a Pinch of Salt and bring your friends and family along too !

    • Nice Food + Good Ambiance + Value for $$ but HORRIBLE Service (You decide)

      Sep 29, 2009
Today, my very nice colleague cum friends cum sisters gave me a belated birthday celebration at "With a Pinch of Salt" resturant. The decoration of the restaurant is very sweet and cute ... with balloons hang on the wall... cute pictures displayed on the wall... adorable drawings on the serving tables. The ambiance is quite good.. and I believe my daughter will like it a lot!
As we ordered Set lunch, it came with Soup, Main course and dessert. The waitress told us that the Soup-of-The-Day is Cream of Potato. However, when we took a sip, it's Corn Soup!!! Even tho' the noticeboard displayed as Cream of Corn (but we insisted that it's Corn Soup as it's NOT creamy at all.. very watery). When the main course arrived, wow!! The portion is huge... and delicious!! Yum Yum.
However, when it's dessert time... we were a bit disappointed as they only served NORMAL ice-cream and Creme pudding (I guess the pudding was bought from supermarket as the taste is "oklor").
The negative part of this restaurant is that the Myanmar-waitress' service is HORRIBLE and Terrible (absolutely no smile at all, as if you have offended her or owned her lots of $$) as she will walked away "angrily" when you need more time to think about the food you want to order & when asked for bill, she will place the bill on the table and simply walk away. We have feedback to the lady boss and she explained to us her difficulties of finding replacement...etc.. etc... However, deep in our heart is that if she continue to engage such a HORRIBLE waitress with the excuse of can't find replacement, then she will have to bear the consequence of bad business as in Singapore... we not only look for GOOD FOOD, we also look for GOOD SERVICE. Don't you agree?

      1. Hey didn't this used to be Miss Clarity Cafe?

        Oct 15, 2009
I remember there's a MIss Clarity cafe in the East, so I wuz surprised to see the change of name (and decor I guess) to With a Pinch of Salt. My bf refused to go in cos he said it looked too girly, so we ate nasi lemak (yes the one always got queue opposite) and donuts instead. I brought my little nephew back the next week, and he loved the bright cheery look of the place, with the sofa seat(yeah, we "choped" the sofa seat!) and games to play. ok so the food was pretty bad, like tv dinner kind of taste, but i remember the molten chocolate cake was not too bad. anyway my nephew had a great time so i like the place and i say, some places you go more for drinks and fun, not really the food takes priority. A great place for kids. I guess it was the manager serving us cos service was ok.

          • Food is value for money, service is terrible

            Jul 4, 2009
This is a place for students. The decor is bright and cheerful, the dishes are large in portion and very reasonably priced, the food is ok in quality.

However, the service leaves much to be desired. We were there on a weekday night, the manager (who was a local) took down our orders hurriedly and communicated them to her staff, NONE of whom were locals and could barely speak English! Soon after the manager left, and we had a hard time explaining what we actually wanted to the staff (one extra order, one missed order). I have to say that the staff were quite friendly and apologised quicly for the mistake, so it's really not their fault, but the fault of the proprietors for not giving their staff proper language training and instilling proper service systems. They need to look into this urgently.

            • Cozy place, Friendly Staff, Large Portion food at reasonable price!

              Apr 17, 2009
I went to Gramercy to pick up some stuff and was wondering where to go for lunch... It was blazing hot so naturally we wanted somewhere with aircon... We saw the interesting sign With a pinch of salt and joked abit about it cos you know take it with a pinch of salt means we should have some reservations about something...

There wasn't anyone at the podium so NATURALLY.... We walked in and were promptly greeted by the friendly staff.. I think they should remove the podium so that people won't stand and wait outside and get angry...

My mom, bro and me had Green curry with rice, Chicken Cutlet and Pork Chops respectively..
The Green Curry is really spicy so if you are a chilli addict you should try it.. but my mom and bro were sweating from the shiokness of it.. They said it was spicy but shiok.. As for me, I didn't dare to try it.. The chicken cutlet was seriously huge.. It was fried till crispy and as it was thick enough the inside was succulent and tender.. The sauce was also just nice and the potatoes that came with it was delicious.. The porkchops I had was not bad too.. The portion is huge, two large slices, and relatively thick too considering the price, I forgot but it was around 12-13 bucks I think.. It came with potatoes too which was nice, a break from the usual fries...

The bread and butter pudding and caramel pudding that came with the set lunches were good, at least for me because I have never tried both before.. They have this homemade feel to it and the lady boss told us that they reduce the sugar for their desserts which should suit most people who are health concious...

The chocolate lave cake however was not bad at least on the outside, but the inside was cold, I think they did not bake it long enough? Or it was frozen before they baked it... Something should be done to ensure the insides are hot and oozing and maybe better vanilla ice-cream but given the price the current ice cream should do fine, then it will be a perfect ending to a good lunch or dinner...

If you are a student you should definitely dine there cos aside from no GST and no service charge they offer special menus and prices for students in uniform...

Portions are huge and guaranteed to fill you up, service is very good, staff are really friendly especially the lady boss who introduced us to items on the menu and their set lunches. It is air-conditioned which is a nice respite from the hot blazing sun as most places along that stretch is either non-airconditioned or aircon is so low might as well don't on it...
