Woody place

Woody place -http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2012/09/26/woody-pub-cafe-12f-andrews-avenue/

A family cafe in ulu Sembawang, where I live. No aircon for outdoor seats though… anyway just aim for the sofa seats if you wish to sit and chill for long.

The menu looks like old school home econs project slides with food pic and description. I felt like I just read a thick project file. Ahhhhh… I hope they would provide more alluring menus to read.

I also recommend this place for:

Some pictures of the general feel - http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2012/09/26/woody-pub-cafe-12f-andrews-avenue/

I only tried the spring chicken, buffalo wings and satay. They were quite normal to me; I didn't detect any special taste in them. Ambience wise, it's quite good for chilling out so I think it's still worth the trip if you live nearby.

      Two bad experiences...

      10 Apr 2012
I first discovered Woody Cafe when I tried to go to Buckaroo's one fateful day and discovered it was closed on that day. No problem, me and the hubby thought, we could just try out this new-ish place that looked very cosy and inviting.

We had the lovely Peranakan wings and a pizza to share. The drinks, while a tad expensive, were good as well. Terrific, we thought, we can come back again. However subsequent visits did not live up to expectations. The first bad experience came in August 2011. We had gone there with another person (total 3 pax) and had some beers and a couple of magaritas, and of course the said wings and other finger food. My friend left around 9-ish and we decided to have one last drink before leaving. The hubby asked for a whisky (neat) and it was served to him. I'm guessing they were eager to clear the table, cos someone from the kitchen came out to clear the plates etc, which was fine, but she neglected to check the hubby's glass and poured away his drink! He had only taken a sip of the whisky, which I want to state, was not cheap.

We were pretty horrified and to placate him (not wanting to end the night on a sour note) I ordered him another drink. When it came time to settle the bill, I politely mentioned to the lady boss (who mans the bar) what had happened. She just laughed off the incident saying that the lady who cleared the table was not a trained waitress and was one of the kitchen staff, so she did not know about the drink.

?!? I was baffled by this explanation and even more irritated that she did not even minus off the charge for the drink that was thrown away!

Suffice to say that we were very hesitant to even go back to that place but decided to brave it there early this year. We sat in our usual cosy corner, ordered our wings and a pizza and drinks. The drinks and wings arrived without incident. However the pizza was a long time coming. I checked with the waitress about our pizza so she went to inform the kitchen....about 20 minutes later the pizza came out and guess what? It was the wrong pizza. They sent out a Hawaiian pizza instead!

Again, no explanation and no apology...we then had to wait ages for the correct pizza to be delivered. When I mentioned this to the lady boss, she said we must have ordered it wrongly. (?!?)

I actually wonder how this place can stay in business for so long when they obviously don't give a hoot about what the customer wants or how we want to be treated.

Never going there again, for sure.
