When I was previously dining at a sushi restaurant at Mandarin Gallery, I heard a chef talking about Yoshiyuki. When a chef from a different restaurant sings praises on another restaurant serving similar (although not quite the same) cuisine, it was definitely a reason for me to check out the place.
 
I went for the Kaiseki Lunch ($88),and the meal started with the Sakizuke, a light mix of boiled King crab with Japanese parsley.

Saw this restaurant ad over my Jap friend's fb, trust must be a place to try.
While entering, remind me of Shiro off bukit timah then. Everything is near perfect from service to food. Lots of efforts put in displaying the dishes. Yup..kind of pricey though.

It's been over a week since my husband & I tried this spanking new place and we're still talking about it. We love Japanese food and have tried some really good ones in S'pore -- but Kaiseki Yoshiyuki is a cut above the rest. Love the soothing & elegant modern contemporary ambience, impeccable service (attentive but not in your face), extensive wine & sake list, and most of all, Chef Yoshiyuki's kaiseki creation that's just to die for!
