sometimes i am quite apprehensive about having mock meat, because they taste so fake or because they are full of flour, hence carbohydrates, hence very fattening.
i tried Zen Japanese Vegetarian Restaurant today and had the Unagi, Pork cutlet, Cashew Chicken, Black pepper pork, Yusheng with sashimi, Tempura, Tomato Rice and wow. It was good.
It did not taste fake, instead it tasted quite real. In fact, the unagi tasted fishy. They used mushrooms & beancurd to make the fake meat which was healthy, yet with the tasty spices and skilful cooking made all the dishes delightful and pleasing.
The place was relaxing, not too empty nor crowded and staff polite. A nice place, with delicious and sinless vegetarian food that i would definitely go again. Somewhere that meat lovers might grow to like :)
