Fish & Chips

in collaboration with Standard Chartered
Created in the United Kingdom during the second half of the 19th century, Fish & Chips arose from the fusion of two working-class staple dishes - batter-fried fish from Scotland and deep-fried potato strips from England. This dish grew to fame as one of the few dishes not subject to rationing during the Word War II era and was introduced to other parts of the world through British occupations during the same period. In predominantly Roman-Catholic societies, food establishments would unanimously offer Fish & Chips as their specialty dish on Fridays due to the religion's tradition of not consuming meat on Fridays.
