Ramen was introduced to Japan after World War II, when Japanese troops returning from China and other parts of East Asia decided to set up their own Chinese restaurants and re-create the simple noodle dish sold by Chinese push-cart vendors around the region. Consisting of freshly made wheat-flour noodles, various toppings and a pork-based broth, Ramen, originally known as "Chinese Soba", has since become a staple part of Japanese cuisine. In fact, most districts in Japan today have their own signature-style of ramen - Miso Ramen from Hokkaio and Ie Kei Ramen from Yokohama - with the difference styles defined only by the type of toppings and broth used in its preparation.

20/04/10, 9:06 am Here's what i think of Ramen In Singapore:
Tried Santouka, the salty broth leave a bad msg infected dry spell. got to drink lot of water. Rip off Price at $20 per bowl!!
Tried Marutama Ramen, 1 pathethic piece of 0.5mm slice of pork char siew + maggi mee. also another Rip off Price at $12 per bowl!! + Staff speak to me in Japanese while i order in English!. Hellooo..wake up. This is Singapore lah.
Huh? still got so many votes for this?
After this, i avoid all Ramen Stalls here. Trust me, if you ever tried those in Japan You know what i mean. Maybe I just wait for the Japan food fair. I believe only the Japanese Ramen Shifu can do the job.
